Listen to Your Constituents Grimm!
From an article on SIlive.com by Judy L. Randall:
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A dozen Democrats gathered yesterday outside Rep. Michael Grimm’s New Dorp office to call on him to support a debt-ceiling compromise, saying they fear the country will go into default if a solution to the economic stalemate isn’t reached pronto…
“The Republicans never blocked raising the debt ceiling before,” said Ruth Cavanaugh of Bay Terrace.
“I am inflamed with the Republican newcomers,” said Marianne Bongolan of Great Kills, referring to Tea Party-supported candidates like Grimm (R-Staten Island/Brooklyn).
And that wasn’t all Staten Islanders were upset about:
Later in the day, members of the Staten Island chapter of the AARP delivered petitions to Grimm’s office stating their opposition to any cuts to Social Security and Medicare, which they said would jeopardize seniors’ health and financial security.
“Congress needs to reduce the nation’s growing debt, but it should start by cutting wasteful government spending, whether it’s in the health care system, other parts of government or through tax loopholes,” said AARP state spokeswoman Chaunda Ball.
Get it together Grimm!
